Gordon Christian Honor Unit Award form

Each year, the Gordon Christian Honor Unit Award is presented, at the District Dinner, to the Units in White Rock District that:

  • Have achieved the highest degree of excellence in presenting the program of the Boy Scouts of America to the youth that it serves, and
  • Show, through support of district activities and events, a commitment to improve the quality and status of White Rock District.

In order to achieve the Gordon Christian Honor Unit Award, a Cub Scout Pack, Boy Scout Troop, Venture Crew or Ship in White Rock District must meet the following criteria:

  1. Received Quality Unit Award for previous charter year.
  2. At least one unit representative attended at least eight District Roundtables during the past twelve months.
  3. Participated, as a unit, in at least two of the following White Rock District Events during the past twelve months:
    1. Cub Scouts games
    2. Webelos Woods
    3. Cub Scout Twilight Camp
    4. Camporee
    5. Advance-O-Ree
    6. Scouting for Food
    7. Kite Day
    8. Pinewood Derby
  4. At least 50% of the registered unit leaders, with a tenure of one year or more, completed the District Training Event, as a participant, for their current leadership position.
  5. At least 50% of the registered leaders in your unit, with tenure of one year or more, completed Youth Protection Training during the previous three years.
  6. At least one unit leader participate as a District Committee Member or on the District Commissioner Staff for the past twelve months.
  7. At least one unit leader (other than the one listed in # 6) serve as a District Staff Member in one of the following training events during the past twelve months:
    1. Cub Scout Adult Leader Training
    2. Outdoor Webelos Leader
    3. Adult Leader Training
  8. At least one registered adult leader attend the White Rock District Leaders Program Kickoff Meeting.
  9. Unit takes part in the Friends of Scouting campaign.

Please complete the Gordon Christian Honor Unit Award form and submit it to the District Awards Committee Chairman no later that the November District Roundtable meeting.
